Nematology scholarships

Scholarships

There are a few scholarship opportunities offered by the Belgian or Flemish government or Ghent University to finance your studies. Note that competition is very fierce and that you need to fulfill many application requirements. Applying for a scholarship is no guarantee to obtain one!

Application for the scholarships (VLIR-UOS scholarship, the IMaNema tuition fee waiver, the Flanders Knowledge Area Master Mind scholarships and the UGent TopUp Grant) can be done directly via the online application form, which you also use to apply for pre-academic admission to IMaNema.

We strongly advise you to apply for other sponsorships (education ministries of your country and scholarshipsportal) too. There is no need to contact us asking for other scholarship opportunities besides those listed below.

VLIR-UOS scholarships

Check the VLIR-UOS website for more details about eligibility criteria. Applicants can be no older than 35 years and need to be a national and resident of one of the 32 scholarship countries at the time of application.

Apply for the scholarship via the online application form. Deadline of submission is 3 January 2020.

Selected candidates are shortlisted by the Nematology Educational Committee and informed by February 2020 and the final selection by VLIR-UOS and the Directorate General for Development Cooperation is communicated by May 2020.

Warning:

VLIR-UOS found out that a person in Uganda, under the name Anthony Kigozi , promotes scholarship opportunities related to or financed by VLIR-UOS (and sometimes Makerere university). He claims being in charge of selecting scholarship candidates in collaboration with VLIR-UOS, or sometimes with other agencies that grant scholarships. VLIR-UOS has no connection with this person and did not assign this person in any possible way.

Please note that:

  • applications must be submitted directly to the Flemish universities (in Belgium) and not to any local intermediary body or person in partner countries
  • no payments are required to apply, either in Belgium or in Uganda
  • persons who claim that certain fees should be paid in the context of submitting an application for a VLIR-UOS scholarship, do this in their personal name and in violation of VLIR-UOS rules. VLIR-UOS takes formal distance from those people and their practices
  • the only valid information about VLIR-UOS scholarships and application procedures is the information on the VLIR-UOS website or on the website of the Flemish universities and university colleges.
